Several months ago, OCN reported about two citizen-led petitions circulating Parker, regarding the development of two plots of land near Mainstreet. The last day to sign those petitions is Tuesday, October 8.
Time is expiring for two petitions Parker citizens are filing to re-zone two plots of land into Open Space.
In order for the proposed ordinances to appear on the November ballot, each petition must have 5,736 voter signatures (15 percent of the 38,242 registered voters) by end of day on Tuesday, October 8. To sign the petition, you have to be a registered voter within the Town of Parker.
You can sign petitions today (Monday, Oct. 7) at:
Rowley Downs Gazebo
E. Mainstreet and Stonehenge
11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
Parker Library
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The land in question includes a 24.4-acre piece of land called "Pine Curve," which lies directly to the east of downtown Parker, where East Mainstreet comes to a T intersection with Pine Drive.
The other plot is "PACE Lot 2," the PACE Center's north parking lot and the attached vacant, undeveloped lot adjacent to Mainstreet. Both pieces are zoned for commercial development, which Town of Parker officials seem intent on moving forward with. The petitioners are concerned that development will cause bottlenecks of traffic and potentially ruin Parker's small-town charm.
