Just because the salons are closed doesn't mean your hair has to suffer.

If you color your hair or get highlights, looking in the mirror might not be a lot of fun these days. With everything closed and everyone stuck at home, it’s downright impossible to get a salon appointment. But don’t worry, there are some products you can use at home to brighten and color hair until the salons are open again. Plus, you should be able to find most of these items at the grocery or drug store.

Toning Shampoos

If you’re a blonde with highlights, you are already very familiar with toning shampoos and conditioners. These products tone out brass and yellows, keeping blonde hair brighter and whiter. It also softens the line between your roots and lightened hair making your roots appear less pronounced. Toning shampoos will also work if you’re not blonde. Just use one every few days to temper roots and cover gray. You might have to look at ULTA or Sally Beauty to find brunette and redhead toning shampoos.
