Turn your eyes towards the skies on August 19 for a supermoon! It will be a full moon, a "Super Blue Moon."

This full Moon will appear in its full phase from Sunday morning through Wednesday morning, according to NASA.

Now, the moon won't be particularly blue, so don't get your hopes up. "A seasonal Blue Moon is the traditional definition of a Blue Moon and refers to the third full moon in a season that has four full moons ..." says Space.com. "The second definition — which arose from a misunderstanding of the original — is the monthly Blue Moon, referring to the second full moon in a single calendar month."

In addition, the idiom "once in a blue moon" describes a rare but nonetheless recurring event. However, according to NASA, blue moons aren't actually all that rare, as they occur every 2.5 years or so.

The Super Blue Moon is expected to turn full on August 19 at 2:26 p.m. (ET).
