(Alexandria, MN) -- Alexandria and Fergus Falls are the last two teams remaining in the Section 8AAA Boys' Basketball Tournament after each posted home victories on Friday.

The Cardinals played their last true home game of the season Friday evening at Alexandria Area High School and came away with a 96-53 win over Detroit Lakes. It marked the final game at Pohlig Court for senior Co-Captains Samson Hagstrom and Chase Thompson . Teammate Mason Witt also scored 32 for the Cardinals, who have now won 21 straight games.

Junior Damarion Ross sank five three-pointers in the first half and would lead the Lakers in scoring with 20 points. Senior Tyler Bye closed out his career in a Laker uniform by adding 12 points.

Detroit Lakes concluded the year with a 14-13 final record, including a 7-10 mark in their first season in the Central Lakes Conference. Alexandria is now 25-3.

The Cardinals will face Fergus Falls at a neutral site Thursday evening at 7:00 for the Section 8AAA Championship. The Otters prevailed at home against Saint Cloud Apollo on Friday, 91-73 to raise their record to 21-7.
