Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez arrived in camp hoping for a stellar third season.

Now, Rodriguez and the Orioles may need to wonder about his Opening Day availability.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Thursday that Rodriguez reported right triceps soreness. Rodriguez allowed three hits and a run across 1.1 innings Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins .

“He just wasn’t feeling real up to himself,” Hyde said.

Rodriguez admitted he felt “sluggish” following Wednesday’s shortened outing.

“I just don’t think I could really get behind the ball today and spin it how I wanted to,” Rodriguez said, according to the Orioles’ official website .

“I don’t really know if it’s mechanical or not,” he added. “I just know some days are harder than others.”

Rodriguez is no stranger to the injury report. He missed over two weeks last May because of right shoulder inflammation. A right lat/teres strain ended Rodriguez’s season in August.

However, Rodriguez took a monumental step forward in his second big-league campaign. The 2018 No. 11 pick went 13-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.4 bWAR in 20 starts.

Rodriguez displayed impressive control, registering 130 strikeouts against 36 walks in 116.2 innings for the AL East runner-ups.

Injuries have hit the Orioles hard in spring training. Star shortstop Gunnar Henderson (right intercostal strain) and reliever Andrew Kittredge (left knee soreness) are each questionable for Opening Day.

Outfielder Tyler O’Neill reported left rib cage soreness earlier this week.

Cade Povich, who has seven strikeouts in five scoreless innings this spring, could replace an injured Rodriguez. Povich went 3-9 with a 5.20 ERA in 16 starts.
