If higher education is what you're after, go where opportunities for work and overall well-being abound.

Recently, WalletHub.com compared over 400 U.S. college cities using data based on academic, social, and economic opportunities. It's no surprise that Denver got a slot in the top 20. After all, the hot job market, ample outdoor activities, and diverse blend of arts and entertainment all contribute to fostering a promising start to post-grad life. There were other cities in Colorado on the list (Fort Collins came in at #96 while Boulder held on at #177), but it's safe to say that the Mile High is the right place to be for career-minded students and working professionals.

3. Scottsdale, AZ

4. Tampa, FL

5. Ann Arbor, MI

6. Seattle, WA

7. San Diego, CA

8. Las Vegas, NV

9. Salt Lake City, UT

10. Provo, UT

11. Reno, NV

I know what you're thinking, Florida made the top 20 three times?! I suppose there's something to be said if you can study on a beach and get a job at Disney World after graduating. All the same, if heading westward is your aim and you love mountains, Denver is the place to be. If you're worried about making the move here, have no fear because almost everyone here is a transplant too.

What do you think of the cities on this list? Let us know in the comments!
