Make a video for Ralph!

The Denver Zoo is calling all fans to make a "Emu'd" booster for one of its feathered friends! Ralph the emu loves to people watch, and without guests stopping by to say hi, he's feeling a little down.

But, you can help!

"Without a steady parade of guests to entertain him, Ralph the emu is feeling a little emo. So we’re asking his adoring public—that’s YOU—to record a short video greeting for our fine feathered friend, so we can make an "Emu'd booster" that keepers can play to him to lift his spirits!" said the zoo's Facebook page.

According to the zoo, Ralph is very outgoing, extremely curious, and loves to see his visitors. He often watches for friends to look over his fence and interact. He's been trying to get his keepers attention in any way possible since the zoo closed due to the coronavirus.

So, all you have to do to give Ralph a little love is record yourself saying hello, and mention your name in the video. Then, email it to [email protected] or leave it in the comments on this Facebook post. Ralph's keepers will play it for him to keep him engaged!

Check out this cool video below of Ralph exploring his home this February. While many people don't know it, emu are well-adapted for all temperatures, and Ralph clearly enjoys the snow.

"Emu actually have double-shafted feathers, so they have two feathers per follicle. They also keep their long legs warm through counter-current heat exchange, which helps them maintain a stable body temperature, even in extreme temperatures," the zoo says.
