From pasta to mini-putt, Denver's historic Cable Car Building to host miniature golf, food, a bar, and more. 

Downtown’s Old Spaghetti Factory served its final meals on Sept. 16 after 45 years of business, and its vacated space already has a new tenant. Urban Putt, an indoor golf experience based out of San Francisco, will bring two nine-hole courses full of unique features, food, a bar, and event space to Denver’s historic Cable Car Building. It is planned to open its doors in early 2019.

“My wife and co-owner Leslie Crawford is a Denver native, so the opportunity to restore this wonderful example of historic Denver architecture while providing a place for generations to enjoy is an opportunity we just couldn’t pass up,” said Steve Fox, chief greenskeeper and CEO, in a news release.

And while it’s adding more entertainment options to downtown, it is also bringing history back to the building. Urban Putt will be restoring the façade to its historic, 1889 splendor with approval from Denver’s Landmark Preservation Commission.

Excitingly, the large entry arch that had been part of the structure for nearly a century will be restored, thanks to a steel plate that will provide support. It fell from its original location several years ago but was saved and incorporated into the Old Spaghetti Factory’s interior.

Local firm Roth Sheppard Architects are part of the team that will restore the building. In addition, the golf courses and overall venue are being designed and fabricated by a team of artists, electromechanical experts, game designers, software computer programmers, 3D modelers, sound experts, and master carpenters.
