Smoke was seen from the inside of a Walmart at 400 Eubank Blvd. NE on Saturday brought a fast response and even faster resolution, an Albuquerque Fire Rescue news release said. When AFR personnel arrived, they saw that the smoke was coming from HVAC vents on the store's ceiling, and employees and customers were evacuated. The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes. The only damage was to a rooftop HVAC unit, and no firefighters or civilians were injured, the release said. The Walmart will be closed for a short time while repairs are made and is expected to reopen soon. AFR has determined that the fire was caused by faulty electrical components on the HVAC unit.
