The Sanford Police Department announced the arrest of a 17-year-old high school student who allegedly threatened to "shoot up" a school. Police said they were notified on March 8 of a video posted online of an unknown male threatening to shoot up Seminole High School. The video showed multiple guns and vests. Police investigators determined the subject in the video was a student at Elevation High School, and officers arrested him on Saturday. He is being charged with intimidation written/electronic threat of mass shooting/terrorism act. A number of items were seized from the suspect's residence after his arrest. Police said the weapons are "extremely realistic" Airsoft replica firearms. Seminole County Public Schools Superintendent Serita Beamon said, "I am so thankful for the collaborative work and relentless dedication of all the agencies involved in bringing this incident to a conclusion. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will continue to take any potential threat seriously and act quickly."
