The fire is currently about 50 acres.

A wildfire that started on Tuesday afternoon near Conifer in Jefferson County continues to burn, though, at this time, most early evacuation orders have been lifted and residents are allowed in their homes.

The blaze is actually three separate fires burning near each other, which the Sheriff's office is now referring to as the Foxton Fire overall. On Tuesday night, the fire had grown to around 50 acres and prompted evacuations to area residents, asking them to go to an evacuation center at Elk Creek Elementary School. That order was lifted by 7:15 on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, when smoke was initially reported, several agencies responded to keep the blaze from spreading. Check out the video from March 17, early on in the fire when it was just about 20 acres in size.

Officials say it's likely that crews will be battling the fire for the majority of this week.

"Elk Creek Firefighters responded to a mutual aid fire w/@NorthForkFire today. Elk Creek Fire Suppression Module 459, Engine 451 & Engine 435 responded to assist w/suppression efforts. The is approx 50 acres. Firefighters will work on the fire the rest of the week," said the Elk Creek Fire Protection District on Twitter.

The cause of the fire has not been determined as of yet, and an investigation is ongoing.
