Chagrin Falls came out guns blazing and led Richmond Heights through the first quarter of their Division V district semifinal. But, like the Spartans do, they wore the Tigers down.

The Spartans scored 46 points in the next two quarters while the Tigers scored 17 as Richmond Heights took the 94-49 win.

After trailing, 23-21, the scoring spread for Richmond Heights was very spread out. All five scorers for Richmond Heights finished with double figures.

De’Erick Barber had 24 points to lead the way, followed by 21 from Dorian Jones, 18 from Demarris Winters, 17 from Joey Emory and 11 from Mekhi Asberry.

Chagrin Falls held Richmond Heights to just two first-half 3-pointers and tough looks from deep all contest long.

Chagrin Falls had a strong start led by Oscar DiFranco and Ryan Curtiss with seven first-quarter points. But Curtiss had two points the rest of the way.

DiFranco had 13 points to lead the Tigers, Spencer Kaas had nine and Quinn Bargar had eight.

Brush’s season also came to an end with a 63-44 defeat to Akron Hoban in a Division III district final.

The Knights got out to an 18-12 lead, in large part from John Johnson who had eight points in the first.

But Johnson then went quiet. His Knights’ teammates however, picked it up from there.

Despite just eight points in the second quarter as a whole, Sam Greer (17 points), Johnson (14), Jame McCarthy (13) and Kamran Ensley (12) all finished in double figures for the balanced attack.

Brush had a chance to make a run at the lead after Hoban’s down second quarter but only scored 10 to make it 26-22 at the half.

Damari Dammons had 24 points in the contest to lead all scorers. The next leading scorer for the Arcs was Dekhi Owens with eight and Prince Ryleigh-Johnson with six.
