The #Chiefs tendered both Jack Cochrane and Nazeeh Johnson with the ROFR tender.

The Kansas City Chiefs intend to bring back another essential member of their secondary after veteran safety Justin Reid departed for the New Orleans Saints earlier in the week.

According to multiple reports, the Chiefs have tendered restricted free agent defensive back Nazeeh Johnson with the right of first refusal tender. For Johnson, Kansas City has the right to match any offer sheet signed with another team, but there is no draft compensation and he'll earn a $3.263 million salary for the 2025 NFL season.

A 2022 seventh-round pick, Johnson made significant strides in 2024 after returning from a torn ACL before the start of his second season. The former Marshall standout emerged from being a top-tier special teams player for Dave Toub to becoming a starter opposite All-Pro Trent McDuffie in multiple games following the injury to Jaylen Watson. He finished last season with 56 total tackles (33 solo), three passes defended and a sack, showing flashes of his versatility.

Adding a free agent signing Kristian Fulton from the Los Angeles Chargers could change Johnson's role for next season. The way defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo uses various players in the secondary during schemes should allow him to see time on the field.
