At-home tests will be available to residents for free through local health departments.
Winter months always mean an increase in the number of cold, flu, and COVID cases. To help curb the spread of COVID-19, medical professionals are recommending anyone who has symptoms get tested right away. Unfortunately, getting an appointment for a test can be tricky. To make testing easier, the Maryland Department of Health is providing 500,000 BinaxNow At-Home COVID-19 test kits to county and city health departments.
Now through the end of December, residents can go visit sites near their homes to pick up the test kits for free.
"By making these at-home test kits available through local health departments, we are giving Marylanders more options and more peace of mind as we head into the holiday season," said Governor Larry Hogan. "Of course, the single most important thing you can do, if you haven’t already, is get vaccinated or get your booster shot."
Tests have been distributed to counties across Maryland and will be available until at least the end of December. The state is also providing 7,000 tests for travelers arriving at the international terminal at BWI Airport. Patients can report the results of their at-home test by going to the Abbott NAVICA website.
To find out where you can get a free test kit, contact your local county health department or visit the Maryland website.
