Hours after the first day of spring practice concluded, Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mario Cristobal and company added their first offensive line commitment of the 2026 recruiting class.

Ben Congdon , an imposing 6-foot-8, four-star offensive tackle out of Tuscarawas Valley High School in Mineral City, Ohio, became Miami's fourth verbal pledge of the cycle on Monday evening. Congdon made his commitment public via a post on "X" after spending the day on campus to take in Miami's first day of spring practice.

The high school wrestler claims offers from several SEC and Big Ten programs but chose the Hurricanes after stating Miami "checked off all the boxes."

Congdon's commitment comes at a position group where Miami could use as many reinforcements as possible; the Hurricanes can potentially lose four starting offensive linemen after this season, including both starting tackles.

After adding four players to the offensive line in this past cycle, interior linemen Seuseu Alofaituli and Max Buchanan are more likely to contribute to the offense sooner than tackles Jaden Wilkerson and Demetrius Campbell are. The Canes also lost two offensive linemen to the transfer portal in the December window.

Miami's staff is looking to bring in an offensive line haul similar to the 2023 class that featured two of the nation's top three offensive tackles. They are curently recruiting the nations No. 1 overall prospect in Jackson Cantwell along with Keenyi Pepe and Heze Kent , the tenth and eleventh rated offensive tackles in the country as per On3.

Although Offensive Line Coach Alex Mirabal cross trains his linemen so that each can play in different spots at a moments notice, Ben Congdon projects as an offensive tackle in college.

Congdon is physical at the point of attack and possess long arms ideal for a tackle to succeed at the collegiate level. He finishes blocks consistently and has expereince playing on the defensive line for his high school.

The twenty-fifth best tackle in the class had high praise for the coaches that will be responsible for his development. “I love Coach Mirabal and Cristobal,” Congdon told On3. “When the head coach and position coach are recruiting me like they are it shows how much they want you," he said while explaining how the staff made him feel like a priority.

Steve Wiltfong of On3 reports that Congdon also has an official visit to Coral Gables set for June 20.

With Congdon's commitment, Miami now holds the nations 12th overall class and the top class in the ACC .
