A fatal collision took the life of a motorcycle rider in Frederick County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Maryland State Police. The crash occurred near the intersection of Maryland Route 80 and Kemptown Church Road just before the half-hour mark past 4 p.m., when a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle crashed for reasons yet to be determined.

The Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack received the call around 4:27 p.m. and promptly dispatched troopers to the scene. The motorcycle was heading south on Maryland Route 80. At the same time, the other vehicle was on Kemptown Road at the time of the incident; the passenger vehicle did not yield, and the resulting impact claimed the life of the motorcyclist, whose name has not been released pending notification of kin. As the investigation continues, no other injuries have been reported.

All traffic on Maryland Route 80 has been halted as a consequence of the tragedy, and the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is on site managing the closure. The Maryland State Police emphasized the role of the Crash Team in taking the lead on this ongoing investigation, focusing on piecing together the moments that led to the crash.
