MUSKOGEE, OKLA. (KTUL) — The Muskogee County District Attorney said the actions of four Muskogee Police officers in an officer-involved shooting from March 8 were justified. According to the DA's Office, on March 8, around 5:11 p.m., the suspect, Aaron Wilson, went to Five Star Recycling in Oktaha , where Amie Maxwell, McKenzie Maxwell, Kimberly Clay, and a 3-year-old were located. Wilson reportedly had a history of domestic violence towards McKenzie and threatened to kill her mom, Amie, on prior occasions. Wilson approached the four of them and shot towards Kimberly Clay, who was grazed on her eyebrow. Officials said he then shot and killed Amie and drove away. The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and advised local law enforcement that Wilson was on the loose and possibly headed for Muskogee. Around 6:09 p.m., the Muskogee Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 2200 Topeka Avenue in Muskogee. The caller said their neighbor had been shot. When officers arrived, they found Rolando McConnell lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds . He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead. During that time, the Creek Nation Lighthorse Police initiated a pursuit with the suspect vehicle. Muskogee Police joined the pursuit, and at one point it was reported that Wilson had shot at police. The pursuit ended at North 5th Street and the Arrowhead Mall parking lot in Muskogee. Officers fired their weapons at Wilson, who was found lying outside the driver's door. Wilson was ordered to show his hands, but he did not comply. A K9 was released, and Wilson complied with officers. He was treated at the hospital and was released. He was booked into the Muskogee County Detention Center. According to the DA's Office, the two officers who shot Wilson and the two other officers who fired their weapons were legally justified since they knew he was armed and dangerous and had killed at least one person.
