Here's where to eat, shop, and play in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Capitol Hill fuses historic locations with hip nightlife and some of the best places to eat in Denver. The neighborhood is totally walkable, but good luck with parking -- it's the most densely populated area of Denver. Travel by foot, and you can see museums, galleries, coffeehouses, and more. Here are our favorite spots to check out.

Wine and Dine

Capitol Hill is home to some of the best restaurants and bistros in Denver, with vegan and healthy options to boot. Check out Di'Franco's for fresh Italian food in a casual setting (we love their sandwiches), or explore the many vegetarian breakfast options served all day at bohemian cafe City O' City. For a more dressed up affair, grab a seat in the Potager dining room and enjoy the rotating menu of organic American eats. Or, if you're in the mood for tapas and cocktails, hit up The 9th Door

It wouldn't be a Denver neighborhood without a coffee shop that's also a bar, so be sure to stop by Hudson Hill for a beverage. Our favorite spot for a dose of caffeine in Capitol Hill is Pablo's Coffee, which also has (gasp) a parking lot. Or, if you're more of a juice person, visit The Corner Beet.

Headed to Sunday brunch with friends? Cap Hill is a great choice for breakfast. We especially love the gluten-free donuts and pancakes at Jelly. Or, for a Southern-style meal, check out Sassafras American Eatery

Shop Until You Drop

With many boutiques, specialty stores, and secondhand stores, Capitol Hill is a great place to shop. Get your fill of new and used records at Wax Trax, a punk-focused music store. Or browse knick-knacks, home goods, and gorgeous apparel at Meek Vintage. Budget shoppers will love the secondhand deals at Buffalo Exchange, where you can also sell or trade your gently used clothing. You'll also find a selection of smoke shops, tattoo parlors, and salons in the area. If you need to stock up on booze, visit Argonaut, which has a huge selection of wine and liquor.

Play All Day

Capitol Hill is packed with museums and historical locations alongside nightlife, so you can find something to do at any point during the day. The Central Library is a treat to visit, with four floors of books and media that you can check out free with your library card. Next up, check out the Denver Art Museum. General admission is free on the first Saturday of each month. Or, attend a tour of the Molly Brown House Museum

When you're ready to party, there are plenty of options. Check out The Black Box if you feel like dancing to electronic music or Your Mom's House if you'd rather chill out to jam bands. Our favorite spot to dance the night away is undoubtedly Milk, which features multiple floors of entertainment and regular themed nights like Goth Wednesdays and Mixtape Saturdays. We also recommend The 1up for a huge selection of arcade games and pinball machines.
