Premier date is set for May 29.

In December, Congress created the latest armed-forces branch based in Colorado Springs, Space Force, to focus on military efforts in space and defend satellites, and Netflix is fully here for it. It has created a new comedy, Space Force, starring comedian Steve Carell, setting the series right here in our home state.

According to the official series description, it follows "a decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance."

The series re-teams Steve Carell with The Office creator, Greg Daniels, to hopefully recreate the magic they once had in the popular comedy. In addition, Netflix announced that Lisa Kudrow (Friends) will join the cast as Carell's wife, Maggie, "who has sublimated parts of herself to her husband’s career for two decades. But as he takes on his biggest challenge, she is growing in a different direction."

The all-star cast also includes John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), and Noah Emmerich (The Americans).

The series is set to launch on the streaming giant May 29. As the description mentions the setting to be a "remote" part of Colorado, it seems unlikely that Colorado Springs, home of the real Space Force, will play a fictional role in the series. But, it should be funny, nonetheless.
