Meteorologists are predicting this may be one of the warmest St. Patrick’s Day weekends in years, with temperatures up into the 60s. Indoor and outdoor activities will be plentiful at area beaches throughout the weekend and on the big day itself — which falls on Monday, March 17.
Ocean City's Saint Patrick's Day Parade launches season of fun
Ocean City’s annual parade will take place on Coastal Highway at noon on Saturday, March 15. It kicks off at 57th Street and will proceed south to the 45th Street Shopping Center. The parade is sponsored by the Delmarva Irish-American Club. Ocean City's Shenanigan's in high gear for Saint Patrick's weekend
Shenanigan’s Irish Pub, which is located on OC’s Boardwalk, had a quiet season opening last week and is now ready for the major celebrating to commence. It will be open Thursday through Monday, March 13 to 17. On Saturday, Tig Tignor will perform at 1 p.m., followed by James Gallagher & Off the Boat at 3 p.m. (with intermittent appearances by the OC Pipe & Drum Band). All three acts will return Monday, with music beginning at 11 a.m. that morning. Ocean City's Seacrets will have full entertainment slate Saturday
Seacrets will entertain OC’s parade masses with music all day and night Saturday, as is its tradition. The schedule includes the Jimi Milligan Band at noon, John McNutt’s Keltic Rock Warriors at 1 p.m., The Benderz at 4:30 p.m., John Byrne at 5 p.m., Late Last Night at 5:30 p.m., My Hero Zero at 9 p.m. and Stealing Savanah at 10 p.m. Sussex County also gets in on the Saint Patrick's Day fun
In coastal Sussex County, the town of Milton got an early start on things by holding its parade last weekend, with Irish Eyes Milton hosting live music afterward. The pub’s sister location in Lewes, Irish Eyes At Anglers, will celebrate Monday. Danny Fisher & Andy Maher perform from noon to 3 p.m., followed by the Hit the Bottle Boys from 5 to 9 p.m. Dewey Beach's Rusty Rudder opens for season Friday
In Dewey Beach, the Rusty Rudder will open for its 46th season Friday, March 14 with tunes by Stealing Savanah at 9 p.m. On Saturday, March 15, there will be live music from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. courtesy of Love Seed Mama Jump, the Gab Cinque Band and Laura Lea & Tripp Fabulous. At 6 p.m. Sunday, March 16, the Rudder will host a special concert by Huntley, who was the 2023 winner of NBC’s "The Voice" ($20). Tickets go on sale Friday for big Freeman Arts Pavilion shows
In other concert news, tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, March 14. for a second batch of shows to take place at the seasonal Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville. Ticket prices are to be announced. National reggae-rock act 311 will perform at Freeman at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. Counting Crows and special guest The Gaslight Anthem will play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. Counting Crows had originally been scheduled for a sold-out Freeman debut back on July 25, 2023, but it was rained out; fans will no doubt be hoping for better weather so the group can finally perform this time.
