SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Protestors came together at the city’s Armory historic site, the only national park in western Mass, in support of Park Rangers across the country.

Residents were invited to join the National Day of Resistance at noon, to show public support for the park and its staff. We spoke with one of the protestors, Eric Bright, who explained just how great the turnout was yesterday.

“I was looking online at some of the social media posts from other parks out west, the big parks, and they had their crows but we were rivaling them. and for the Springfield Armory to have a crowd the size of those massive parks out west says a lot about the people of western Massachusetts,” he emphasized. “Call Richie Neal, call Jim McGovern, call our senators. They can do something about it, it’s not going to be a short term win. It’s going to be a long campaign to turn this around.”

This wasn’t just in western Mass either, all across the country yesterday, Americans at other national parks stood up in a peaceful show of support.
