A shooting at the HonorHealth Shea Campus emergency room in Scottsdale has left one security guard injured and another with minor injuries. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Maximillian B.D. Yanofsky, was taken down by hospital staff and security before being arrested by the police. The dramatic yet swift event transpired inside the healthcare facility, with reports confirming that the incident, which occurred last Sunday just after 1 p.m., was contained within approximately six minutes. Yanofsky was brought to HonorHealth earlier in the day as a potential patient, but the situation escalated in the ER, with police being notified of a disturbance that soon turned into an altercation. It was during this conflict that Yanofsky, armed with a gun he had brought into the hospital, fired a shot, striking a security guard. Despite the chaos, other security team members and employees were able to disarm and restrain Yanofsky until the police arrived moments later. The injured security guard was hit in the upper body and has since been transferred to a trauma center for a higher level of care, according to a statement released by the Scottsdale Police Department . Another guard sustained a minor hand/wrist injury during the incident. The Scottsdale Police Department has expressed their wishes for a full and speedy recovery for both individuals and has commended the hospital staff for their bravery and quick response. While initial calls may have painted the scene as an active shooter situation, it has been clarified that it was an isolated confrontation confined to a small space within the ER with only one round discharged. In light of the events, Yanofsky is facing multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault - Serious Physical Injury, Aggravated Assault - Deadly Weapon, Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon and Discharge of a Firearm in city Limits. The Scottsdale Police have booked Yanofsky into the Maricopa County Jail, and they have also released the police report number 2504652 for the public record. As the case develops, more updates are expected.
