As No. 3 Springfield Central girls basketball continued its journey through the MIAA Div. I state tournament in the round of 16 on Tuesday, Golden Eagles' senior Jai-Lyn Garvin-Martin joined an exclusive club of elite scorers.

During the third quarter of Tuesday’s game against No. 11 Westford Academy, Garvin-Martin scored her 1,000th career point on a layup in transition after stealing the ball herself. She finished with six points in support of Angela Hector’s 19-point performance that led the Golden Eagles to a 63-44 win over the Ghosts.
