You have until October 31 to bid on your favorite run.
Steamboat Ski Resort wants you to both make and take some authentic memories home with you after a day on the slopes. From now through the end of the month, you can put in a bid for your favorite run sign and hang it on your wall at home.
These signs are the real deal, each measuring 72" x 12", and not the replicas you can find online. They came off the mountain in the summer of 2018, when the resort made new ones.
Did you wipe out on "Rooster?" Or maybe had your best run on "Huevos?" You can put in a bid on these signs and around 28 others. Prices will start at $50, and you can bid in $10 increments.
If you happen to win your favorite trail marker, you get double the fun because you get to go to Steamboat to pick them up in person. You can fit in a few runs and take your prize home.
Usually, old signs go to employees, but the Steamboat Ski Resort wanted to do things a little different and give back to its community.
"Proceeds from the trail sign auction support Steamboat Ski Resort’s Environmental Fund at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. Annually the resort donates $25,000 to local, nonprofit organizations working to better our community through environmental practices," says the Steamboat Ski Resort blog.
At the time of writing, the lowest priced sign, Spike Trail, is sitting at $250, and the most popular sign seems to be See Me Trail at $18,000. Just a little pocket change, right? Most signs are sitting in the $500 range.
