Chicago Morgan Park four-star receiver Nasir Rankin announced that he will be making his college decision on Wednesday.

The pass catcher is one of the most sought-after talents in the state of Illinois, ranked as the second best player in the state according to 247 Sports, and the No. 7 player in the state according to On3.

During his junior season, he caught 40 passes for 991 yards and 12 touchdowns, leading his team to the state quarterfinals.

There are five schools that Rankin will be deciding between: Illinois, Duke, Nebraska, North Carolina and USC.

Rankin is not only a good football player, but also is talented on the basketball court. He has received two offers to play basketball, one being from the Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini, giving the Illini a certain advantage over the other four schools listed.

The Illini have also played around with the idea of letting the 4-star receiver play both ways, something he has done for his hometown Mustangs. He recorded six interceptions as a sophomore, before morphing into a true receiver his junior year.

One thing is clear: Rankin wants to be involved in the offense of the school he goes to.

The Illini have the opportunity to get him involved early, with a young reciever room slated to return in 2026 and beyond.

And if he chooses to play at both Memorial Stadium and the State Farm Center, he would be the first basketball-football dual-sport athlete since Dwight “Dike” Eddleman did so in 1947.

Oh and not to mention the other two guys in the Illini Hall of Fame for doing the same, Chuck Carney back in 1918 and none other than founder of the Chicago Bears, George ‘Papa Bear’ Halas.
