Wichita Falls ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Troop 1, the oldest Boy Scout troop in the Wichita Falls area, has been presented with the deed to the building they’ve called home since the 1970s. They received the deed by Reverend John McLarty from First United Methodist and Zack Landis from United Methodist during a meeting Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Troop officials said this gift is something that means so much for them and the community. “Either stay with the church through the adversity or look for a new home. Of course, we’ve been with them so long we wanted to stay, and that worked out in the end,” Michael Earker, the Committee Chairman for the Troop and for the Cub Scout Pack said. “I get a little emotional about it, because it does. It means a lot to these kids.” The deed ensures Troop 1 remains a vital part of the Floral Heights neighborhood.
