WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - After a windy and cooler Sunday, warmer temperatures and less wind come back to Kansas today. Wake-up temperatures in the middle to upper 30s will quickly climb into the middle 70s this afternoon underneath partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies.

The week ahead appears relatively quiet with above average temperatures. Highs in the lower to middle 70s Tuesday and Wednesday will be replaced by lower to middle 80s on Thursday and Friday as stronger, gusty winds come back to Kansas.

A weak weather maker will move through the region Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. It looks like any potential storms will stay to our northeast, but it’s a close call, and storms may be added to the forecast as we get better information.

Our next major storm system is expected to impact the state this weekend. While the exact timing and strength are uncertain, scattered showers and storms are possible on Saturday and/or Sunday.

Wed: Low: 47. High: 76. Becoming mostly sunny.

Sat: Low: 57. High: 77. Mostly cloudy, windy; afternoon storm chances.

Sun: 44. High: 62. Clearing, breezy, and cooler.
