Hope for Life Rescue, Inc. | Virginia Beach

Hope for Life Rescue, Inc., is an amazing nonprofit shelter located at 610 Jack Rabbit Rd, Ste 3., in Virginia Beach. When you get there, you'll find them in the third building to the left -- by the big yellow truck! See their available animals on their Facebook page!

Tieson, 10

Tieson (so unique) is a male senior poodle who is very sweet and patient. He is blind and missing hair on his back, but otherwise, he's good to go! Once you take him home (retirement for him), he will make a great companion. He has a favorite green squeaky toy that he carries around, so be sure to load up his toy basket. Check him out here!

Miller, 4

Miller is just gorgeous, isn't he? Very sweet, patient, and observant, this boy is sure to be your best cat friend ever. When I entered the cat room, he sat up right away (after napping) to observe me from his favorite spot on the cat tower. He's special because he has a very loud purr that's pretty hard to ignore. Miller seems like a guy who just wants to lounge around, snuggle, and talk. Check him out here!

Virginia Beach SPCA (VBSPCA)

The Virginia Beach SPCA is one of the local government-run shelters in the Hampton Roads area and can be found at 3040 Holland Rd., in Virginia Beach. Check them out on their website, Facebook, and Instagram!

Oliver, 7 Months

Oliver (aka Knox) has had a troubled past -- He had a cast iron skillet dropped on his head at just six weeks old and has been diagnosed with a mild case of hydrocephalus (built-up fluid around the brain). He is a toy-sized Chihuahua Rat mix who is a little timid when he first meets people but will warm right up to you once he gets comfortable. This boy is very silly, loves other animals, and loves to play. Knox is currently with his foster mother, Suzy, so if you are interested, please email her at [email protected].

Oliver, 3

Oliver is a Tonkinesse mix who really gets along with everyone ... meaning, everyone -- all species included (rodent/reptile people, I'm talking to you). This happy boy is very vocal and loves to have conversations with you so you will never be bored. Oliver is part of a bonded pair, so he will need to go home with his friend Cleo. One look at this gorgeous guy, and you'll be taking him with you to his fur-ever home! Check him out here!

Sandi, 1 to 5

Sandi is a very sweet and active dog who loves to go on walks and run in a fenced-in backyard -- bonus, she's very good on a leash and is already house-trained. Be sure to spoil her with plenty of toys because she loves to play. Sadly, she is not good with other animals or kids, so she would need to be the only pet in an adult-only home. But don't let that stop you because her smile will just melt your heart! Check her out here!

MarMar, 6

MarMar is as sweet as can be, loves to be petted, and will roll over for you to pet her belly! She is not good with most other cats, but is able to be taken home with her sister, LaLa (if you take them both home, one of their adoption fees will be waived!). MarMar is a calico cat with a very unique coat pattern, along with beautiful green eyes! Check her out here!

Abigail Adams, 7

Abigail Adams is ready to join your family this Easter (hint-hint); she LOVES the Easter Bunny and everyone she meets! She has the spunk of a younger dog despite her age and has plenty of energy to keep you going. The Chesapeake Animal Servies staff has described her as the sweetest dog you will meet. She will make a great companion for whoever takes her home! Check her out here!

Zsa Zsa, 5

Zsa Zsa is on the heavier side but is very body-positive! She has been at the shelter for the past year waiting for the purr-fect family to call her own! This gal loves to give headbutts, she purrs whenever she sees fit, annnnnd, she loves to get breakfast in bed! Check her out here!

Norfolk SPCA

The Norfolk SPCA is the local shelter to the Norfolk area and can be found at 916 Ballentine Boulevard, in Norfolk -- check them out on their website and Facebook!

Thaddeus, 15

Thaddeus is an adorable and small Jack Russell mix who has a lot of energy for an old man. Since he is older, he is looking for a retirement home but will stick around for a good long time. He loves to run around, so a bigger property with a fenced-in backyard and plenty of places to lounge would be best. This little guy loves to keep busy, so take him to work with you and or provide him with plenty of toys (they are his favorite). Check him out here!

Layla, 10

When people say that cats have nine lives, it's true. Although Layla is a senior, she doesn't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. As you can see, she is a long-haired calico cat who loves to snuggle in your lap and be petted or brushed. She's looking for a quiet retirement home -- no other pets, please. Just a heads up: She has a hyperthyroid, but she's great at taking her medication, which is inexpensive. Check her out here! 

Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter | Newport News

The Peninsula SPCA is more than just an adoption shelter; they're a petting zoo, too. Popular to the locals, you can find them at 5843 Jefferson Ave., in Newport News -- check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and their website! The shelter performs a behavioral test on each animal while they are at the shelter so they can provide a thorough description. 

Abby, 5 and Tom Boy, 5

These two are a mother and son bonded pair and must be adopted together. Abby is a playful and outgoing tabby cat who is a sucker for the red dot. Tom Boy is shy and likes to hide in dark places. Tyger, age unknown

Tyger is a small domestic shorthair mix who is great with other cats, so he can go home with someone who already has other pets. He is on the smaller side so he would be perfect for cuddling and is easy to pick up. This sweet boy is adventurous and loves to play, so make sure to keep him occupied. Check him out here!
